If you're looking for a great children's book you should check out Patti Pelican and the Gulf Oil Spill. It is a cleverly written book about the tragedy that occurred in the Gulf. Kids and adults are sure to love it. The story is about two birds who get covered in oil and have to be rescued due to the oil spill. It talks about how they just want to go home, but not until it's all cleaned up. My son adores this book. Not only is it fun for us to read together, but it gives me an opportunity to share with him an important event that has occurred and has affected many people.
